Last week in the Western world we saw the birth of a Monarch, celebrated and anticipated…….shouted from the rooftops, the skies and even the waterfalls!!
it was marvellous to see Princess Kate show off her sweet newborn babe and her still extended belly after her natural birth, no shame or excuse….beautiful!
She and her husband Prince William expressed such emotion at the time! It is natural, it is beautiful!
It struck me that motherhood is the great equalizer……from the slum in Baseco to the African plains, to the Eskimo in the freezing environs.
The feeling of joy and anticipation, the hormonal flow and bonding after birth between babe, mother and father are universal. From the rich to the poor, we are still connected with the bond of motherhood!
Most of our babies are born unheralded, without fanfare and worldwide acclaim, nevertheless these babies are just as important, valued and anticipated, called and destined by God. Kate will now understand that in a way we all share!
Mothers understand one thing, each other!
“Becoming a mother makes you the mother of all children. From now on each wounded, abandoned, frightened child is yours. You live in the suffering mothers of every race and creed and weep with them. You long to comfort all who are desolate.” — Charlotte Gray
Just a thought
